Refund Policy

Slabscope sells digital subscriptions and one-time grade credits. This page explains when you're entitled to a refund, how the process works, and how it interacts with your statutory rights.

01Your statutory cancellation right (UK / EEA)

If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, you have the right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days of placing the order, for a full refund.

Important: by starting to use the Service immediately after subscribing or buying credits, you expressly consent to the Service being supplied immediately and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day cancellation right to the extent the Service has been used. Where you have used the Service in part, we will refund only the portion that has not been consumed, calculated on a pro-rata basis.

02Subscriptions — monthly and annual

You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account or by emailing hi@slabscope.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to your tier's features until that date.

We do not generally pro-rate or refund unused time on a monthly subscription, except where required by your statutory rights.

For annual subscriptions cancelled within the first 14 days, we will refund the full amount paid less the value of any grades already consumed at the equivalent monthly rate. After the 14-day window, annual subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law.

03The Pro 60-second guarantee

New Pro subscribers are covered by a specific guarantee: if your first AI-graded card after subscribing takes longer than 60 seconds to return a result, we will refund your first month of Pro on request. Email hi@slabscope.com within 7 days of the slow grade with the timestamp; we'll process the refund within 5 business days.

This guarantee covers Pro only and applies to your first subscription month, not to subsequent renewals.

04Credit packs

Credit packs (one-time purchases) are non-refundable once any credit from the pack has been used, except as required by your statutory rights. Unused credits never expire and remain available on your account indefinitely (or until account closure).

If your account is closed (by you or by us, except for breach), we will issue a refund for the value of unused credits on request, provided the pack was purchased within the previous 12 months.

05Failed payments and chargebacks

If a payment fails, we will retry through Stripe and notify you by email. If payment cannot be collected, your account will be downgraded to the free tier; your data is preserved.

If you initiate a chargeback in good faith, please contact us first — we can usually resolve issues faster directly. Chargebacks filed without prior contact may result in account suspension pending review.

06How to request a refund

Email hi@slabscope.com with:

  • The email address on your Slabscope account.
  • The Stripe receipt number, if available.
  • The reason for the refund request.

We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and resolve within 5 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; depending on your bank, the funds may take 5–10 business days to appear.

07Misuse of the refund policy

We reserve the right to deny refunds where there is evidence of abuse — for example, repeated subscribe-and-refund cycles, or large credit-pack purchases followed by fully consumed usage and chargeback. We will explain our reasoning in writing if we deny a refund.
